History of Slot Machines and Online Slots

Slots has been a fun and popular game for hundreds of years. The first gambling games ever played were similar to the modern slot machine. Dice, Keno and Lotto games are a few of the early gambling games. One early casino game, called The Maze, was similar to slot machines, except that the player would receive a different prize depending on where he or she was at any given time.

The invention of the slot machine itself was said to be invented by a man named Amedeo de Vecchietti. In 1815, a Venetian man named Carlo Gavagni began to invent slot machines. Although he didn’t patent his machines, he tried to spread the word about his game. Gavagni’s game slot demo  became very popular. By the turn of the 20th century, slot machines were a popular form of gambling. The first American slot machine was invented in 1891, and was called “Thirteen Bells.”

The first real slot machine, called the Monte Carlo, was invented in 1889. It was one of the first mechanical slot machines. A few years later, it was said to be “one of the most popular forms of gambling,” and that “while the machine was not illegal, it was frowned upon.” Over the next few years, slot machines began to replace live games of chance and began spreading.
